Putting the rumors to rest, Nintendo has confirmed that a black nintendo wii will soon be available in the US. The system will hit stores as of May 9th and will also include a few goodies that were not found with the original system. The good news here is that despite coming with new additions, the pricing is going to remain the same at $199.99. As for what those new included accessories are, they are the Wii Sports Resort game and the Wii MotionPlus accessory. Of course, you will still get the Wii, a Wii Remote, Nunchuck and Wii Sports included as well.

In addition, going forward, the white Wii will also begin shipping bundled with those two extra accessories. And for those that purchase the black Wii, worry not because there will be controllers and accessories sold separately that will come in black. Otherwise, its really all the same, just the console in a new color, which for some may be a nice thing to have.

As for the Wii MotionPlus accessory, for those that may have not seen that before — it attaches to the bottom of the Wii controller and is said to increase accuracy on compatible games. As for compatible games, a few that are compatible with the MotionPlus include Virtua Tennis 2009, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Gram Slam Tennis. Of course, the included Wii Sports Resort game is also compatible. Otherwise, the game compatibility can be confirmed by checking the back of the Wii game disc packaging.

Moving on to the included game, Wii Sports Resort — this just builds upon the original Wii Sports game and includes activities such as wakeboarding, archery and swordplay. And honestly, what sounds like more fun than playing swords with the improved accuracy that comes with MotionPlus. Well, probably lots, but at least this way you can allow your kids to play swords without worrying quite as much in terms of injury.
